It is easier for any blogger to get first page rankings for the low competition keywords if On Page SEO is done properly.
But if you outrank your online competitor for already ranking content, don’t you think all of a sudden the traffic is transferred to your website.
Most of the time any particular website consistently outranks the content you created. No matter what you do, you can’t improve your ranking because of it. And this becomes a frustrating moment for all of us.
Here is the checklist to get Google first rankings and outrank nearly anyone online.
If you practice below tasks I am sure you can outrank any of your online competitors.
Choose your right competitors.
Let me tell you, these tips will not allow you ditch huge publications with millions of dollars dedicated to marketing. Better do a competition at your or some level up.
1 – Choose keywords not taken by big organizations.
Put your keywords in Google search and press enter. Analyze the search results and look for the keywords dominated by small to mid-sized websites.
I would suggest leaving the keywords if large publications are ranking over it. For example, I would never recommend focusing on keyword SEO GUIDE; they are already taken by high authority websites such as Moz, QuickSprout, and Search Engine Land.
2 – Analyze competitor’s domain rank.
After spending time on SERPs, I would advise you check your competitor’s domain rank i.e. domain and page authority.
You can easily check it using MozBar, it is Higher the authority more difficult it would crack it. If it equal or lesser than yours sticks with it you can outrank this with simple more tricks.
3 – Analyze On page SEO of your known competitors.
Thank God! You are going the right Now you know who you’re going up against. If you’re into a blogging niche, I am sure you can do it easily.
What do look while analyzing on page SEO:
- Keywords in the title (is it in beginning)
- Keywords in URLs
- Keywords in Subheadings (mainly h2 and h3)
- Keywords in alt image tags.
If anyone is missed, here is the chance you get to improve it.
Start Building links
1- Grab your Competitors links
Use Open Site Explorer to analyze which sites are recommending your competitor and helping it to get first page rankings. Now think, how you can get those backlinks may be a better
2- Use HARO
It is good if you get same links as your competitors, but the same number will not work. To outrank them you should have more.
Start answering some question on Help a Reporter (HARO) and get backlinks from high authority publications such as Forbes, CNN and much more.
Create better content
1 – Write longer content
If you do a research on the web, 85 percentof the articles are shorter and less than 1000 words, experts online marketers are ranking because they have longer content.
I would suggest writing a detailed article with at least 1500 words. If your competitors are writing 1000 words articles, extend it to 1500 with same focus keyword and LSI keywords.
2 – Write more appealing content than your competitors
Read out the content of your competitor and I am sure after reading you can figure out what more good you can provide to your readers.
It can be grammar correction and easy conversational language.
3 – Run behind the long tail keywords
For almost every short keyword a high authority publication is ranking on the first page of Google and it is almost not possible to outrank them.
I suggest using a long tail version of the focused keyword in the content even if it is not used in the title. Google will find them. You should cover most of the LSI keywords but in a natural tone.
4 – Serve Evergreen Content
Try to write content that people need. This content gets regular traffic with little promotion.
For example, how to guide, detailed content are always considered best. If you’re an expert in some field then your in-depth article will not let anybody to outrank you.
